2009 year was a tremendous year for LibCon – well, our second year since launching in Nov 2007. Our visitor figures doubled and we hosted a tremendous range of debate on the blog, and attracted comment across other blogs.
The most notable trend is perhaps how social media is becoming an increasingly important space where people post links and have debates.
Most of our referrals now come from Twitter, Facebook and the Guardian website (primarily from CIF writers and commenters).
Totals for 2009
399,274 Absolute Unique Visitors, which accounted for
824,546 visits by people, who contributed to
1,726,083 page views
(the trail-off at the end refers to the Christmas period)
By early next year we should hit the 100,000 absolute unique visitors a month mark.

I’ll be announcing some changes to LibCon set up later this week.
Postscript: A note about right-wingers complaining about our editorial policy (other posts) of exposing the vacuousness Conservative Party can take heart from these figures and stop trying to dictate what we should be publishing.

Good to see Sunny.
Of course, this means you will now be subject to ridicule from the Right.
The Right wing response is first to ignore, then ridicule, and then attack. You will soon be moving to the point when Darce and his goons will be camping outside your house.
Hurrah for steadily-increasing graphs!
Just a small correction though, Sunny; it was Martin Robbins who wrote the piece on drug decriminalisation in Portugal. I wrote something quite similar (though not quite as thorough) for my own blog, but the piece you link to is his.
“the trail-off at the end refers to the Christmas period”
or the class war obsession phase.
sally – it came as no surprise to me. All par for the course when it comes to engaging with right-wingers.
Neil – whoops, thanks, now corrected.
Praguetory – wow, you guys really want to me to stop talking about that hey?
Congratulations, Sunny and all. It’s a well designed project you’ve got with a collection of good writers.
“A note about right-wingers complaining about our editorial policy (other posts) of exposing the vacuousness Conservative Party can take heart from these figures and stop trying to dictate what we should be publishing.”
Heh heh – you’d have thought they’d notice the name of the site before complaining.
Fuck off, Dominic Fisher. Twat.
Wow. I had no idea the skirts thread discussion had continued for so long.
Why Prague tory post on the site ?.
Why not stick to harrys place or Iain Dale ?
You must enjoy the company you impotent dolt
Wow. I had no idea the skirts thread discussion had continued for so long.
Yeah – most of it is google juice but its the only one on the list from 2008 and continues to attract hits/mentions. Heh.
I’m just proud to see an excellent range of content here.
No idea why the Tory trolls can’t just say something intelligent for once…
“No idea why the Tory trolls can’t just say something intelligent for once…”
Oh, I can give you 100′s of reasons why they can’t Sunny.
^ wow, you guys really want to me to stop commenting here, hey?
Ok, now I see a point in doing endless end of year posts. Namely Unity’s excellent post on Teenage Pregnany. Thanks.
