Welcome to Casting the net, Liberal Conspiracy’s daily web review. As always, please feel free to share your own recommendations in the comments section.

Highlights
Big Sticks and Small Carrots – Sweet Harmony
The government believes that public protest is a “vital part” of democracy. Just do it quietly over there in the corner. Thank you.

Mark Pack/LDV – Conservatives admit breaking the law over David Cameron’s free flight
Pedants corner: a law is a law.

John Pugh MP – Essence of Cleggism
Does “Essence of Cleggism” sound just plain daft to anyone else? It’s something like Classical Liberalism, apparently.

Stumbling and Mumbling – BBC bias
It’s not *that* bias, though.

The Very Fluffy Diary of Millennium Dome, Elephant – A Society Willing to Take Risks
Is pragmatic politics, and letting the other parties tie themselves up in partisan knots, the recipe for Lib Dem success?

Obsolete – From organ donation to the right to die.
[QUOTE] “I couldn’t care less what you do with my body when I’m dead – burn it, piss on it, extract my eyeballs and use them as marbles – it’s up to you.”

Skipper – Peter Hain Looks Like ‘Toast’
It’s over for Hain, so says Bill Jones.

Jonathan Levy/Boulton & Co. – Advantage Giuliani?
Are things actually going to plan for Uber-Hawk Rudy Giuliani?

Elsewhere
The Dissenter’s Voice – The future’s bright, the future’s Orange
Liberal Bureaucracy – Choice is a good thing. Isn’t it?
The Daily (Maybe) – Divide and rule: teachers vs cops
Question That – Coercing Corpses
New Humanist: Blog – Italian scientists protest against visit from Pope
PoliticalBetting.Com – Does Michigan take the wind out of McCain’s sails?

I’m going to big up my own blog post (hope the tags work) given the highlight here on Big Sticks and Small Carrots. The protest issue is something I wrote about at the end of last year, but this is not the only issue about infringing on rights that is on the books for consultation right now. Also quite large is the issue of visitor visas that by and large seem to do nothing to stop any issues with tourists disappearing in the system yet overly punish families that wish to visit their kin. There’s also links to a couple of other issues, including the constant issue of Enforcement agencies and their regulation, though I didn’t go into detail about these.

Is Chris “Stumbling and Mumbling” Dillow no longer posting here then?
Perhaps LC, like the BBC, has a bit too much of an anti-market bias for his taste!!

Gaaaawwwwwd, I’m bored.

So am I.
It’s a problem for you though, not for me, if you only end up getting Labourites posting.

Chrisc – That broken record still playing? Try changing the tune once in a while, people may even pay some attention to you?

So am I. – Thank god. Be seeing ya then!

“Park Pack”: is that an order to me :-)

You seem to under some illusion that I’m some sort of partisan hack. I’m not. But I don’t mind you thinking that. Free thought, etc.

Aaron,

Well, I was going to say that you seemed to give fair treatment to the Liberal Party. But then some folk would say you were biased in favour of them instead. Personally, I like your round up, which seems to me to be pretty balanced.

Are we ready for an Aaronwatch?

No, we are not.

Please, keep up the good work.

Lol – that would be quite a compliment!

However, I doubt I’m worthy of the required effort.

It’s very nice to hear that you enjoy my round-up. It takes a couple hours to put together, so knowing people read it makes it worth my time.

Thanks.
