Clairwil – The first step to ending poverty is scrapping tax-credits, that most convoluted and expensive waste of resources. The lowest paid shouldn’t pay any tax whatsoever.
Dave Hill – Some choice cuts from the list of questions submitted for next week’s Mayoral QT. (Doug takes a closer look).
…Millennium Dome, Elephant – On the rather delicious spat between Sarkozy and Mandleson, and how French protectionism is the enemy of progress. Amen.
Westminster Wisdom – Gracchi toys with the idea of a peaceful compromise in 1776, where America and Britain remain unified. How could things have panned out differently?
Paul Linford – Will DC bring DD back into the inner sanctum?
Freakonomics – On the cost/benifit dilemma of end-of-life medical treatment. Just how much is too much?
James Graham/CiF – James thinks Clegg scored an own-goal in the recent H&H by-election and that DC has now been locked into opposing the clamp-down on liberties. However, he regards the result – in terms of actually creating a *public* debate on liberty – as a damp squib.
Justin Webb/BBC – If the automobile really is America’s weapon of choice when committing a crime of passion, will the hike in gas prices actually lower the US murder rate? ;o)
Have a nice weekend.

Aaron,
How’s Tallin treating you? Time to update your biography?
I’d agree completely with Clairwils piece. and take it a bit further, probably.
Hi Douglas,
Yeah, need to update the profile.
Treating me very well actually. Thank you. Yet to decide how long I’ll stay…
Jennie.
Meow. ;o)
Clairwil speaks the truth: anyone who has been anywhere near a Citizens Advice Bureau will know what an utter nightmare the tax credits system is.
We are all concerned about deprivation in this country. Those who support socialist solutions need to go & have a long, hard think about whether their means will achieve the ends we all want.
You will doubtless wish to welcome me to this site.
Ah yeah, asquith, welcome.
