What’s age got to do with it?

Will this be the election that shows the change in power of those in politics through the change in power of those in the country? I’m talking, of course, about age demographics.
I’ve been a great believer in the “common sense” of the young. That’s not to say that they know better than all those entering their twigh-light years, but it is to say they have, en masse, differing views from separate generations. A century or so ago Christianity was a big deal, organised religion in general held a lot of sway. These days? My personal opinion is people are privately religious, and probably more out of game theory than true faith…but I digress.
This election is already at it’s early stages looking exciting. Indiana, a traditionally republican state, is looking to potentially elect Obama. This is big, especially given the number of wealthy people living in this state. So what gives? Is it that they’ve grown jaded of the vast amounts of money they’ve been able to enjoy under Republican rule?
My personal feel on all of this is that Obama is innately “young”. What he is espousing, even if he never follows through with his aims, is the talk of people of my generation…in fact all of those aged between 16 and 40. It is of an understanding in the “common sense” of our time.
I’d not like to say that the young are going to definitely grow up to be more liberal, more socialist, but there is a feeling…to my mind…that we really feel (as a generation or two) that this type of thinking is the right way forward, it is why things like Liberal Conspiracy can now take hold on the internet stage.
Is Obama going to win because of his Change mantra? Maybe…but if he does win I can’t help but feel it’s going to be more to with him simply being a candidate much more in touch with the ethics, the morals, of the general populace of the country, if not the Westernised world.
