The piece at Progressive Politics highlights a problem I’ve often come across with pro-New Labour types ,which is that they can’t understand the difference between a Liberal argument and a Libertarian one. If you want to limit the power of the state to prevent it, say, locking people up without trial they argue as if you want to prevent the state doing anything at all.
Nuance is not New Labour’s strength.
