The Baliffs thing is particularly vicious, and just the sort of Christmas present the government would give to people who’ve just been made redundant like Woolies workers. As Justin says “Who’ll be the first to be killed, do you think? A bailiff kitchen-knifed in self-defence or a householder strangled on his or her lounge carpet?”
This is something even the most right-wing Thatcherite ministers didn’t do.
I’ve written this before hence excuse the repetition but please STOP voting for this Government. STOP fooling yourself that “otherwise the Tories get back in”, because NL is doing unimaginable damage to some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Now I’d like to know, apart from loan sharks and the very same people who crippled the country with what became known as the credit crisis, who would benefit from giving the bailiffs official permission to knock doors down?
Can you imagine the distress it’s going to cause? And can you imagine the strain on the police? The amount of panicking people ringing 999? Have they thought it through?
Shame on you Gordon Brown. Shame on you shitty excuse for a Labour Party. Let’s seriously hope it deosn’t go through Parliament.
Spot on, Cabalmat. I thought Justin’s post was one of the best – if most depressing – things I’ve read. Point is – what are we going to do about it? I want to hear some of these politicians around the place tell us what they’re going to DO.
…and spot on, Stan.
