Danson buys New Statesman
New Statesman have sent over this press release
Geoffrey Robinson MP is delighted to announce that Mike Danson, founder of Datamonitor, is the new owner of the New Statesman magazine.
In April 2008, he acquired 50 per cent of the New Statesman from Geoffrey, who had been sole proprietor since 1996. He has now, with Geoffrey’s agreement, exercised his option on the other 50 per cent and increased his stake to 100 per cent.
Mike Danson says: “My arrangement with Geoffrey has been working very well, and we both agreed that the time was right for me to take full control of the New Statesman as we seek to continue to develop the title. Geoffrey helped save the magazine and he will remain fully involved as co-chairman.”
Geoffrey Robinson says: “It was always my intention to pass full control of the business to Mike. I am very secure with the magazine being in his hands, both financially and editorially. I shall remain as co-chairman with Mike, and am fully committed to a bright new future for the magazine.”

Is there a small chance this could stop the downward spiral it got into since it demutualised? I blame John Major. Again.
I am not sure he knows what he’s doing, actually.
