Conservative Future force YouTube to pull video (updated)
What does Conservative Future have to hide? A new video by the free online magazine Don’t Panic, on CF, was forcibly pulled by the latter off YouTube “due to a copyright claim”.
(video now below)
But the full video can still be watched from their website (the top video) for now. It shows CF activists trying to pass themselves off as “normal people” and various members trying to deny global warming and saying that a women’s job is to “procreate”.
The copyright for the video naturally belongs to Don’t Panic magazine and not CF, who agreed to be interviewed until the end – when they’re caught on video trying to get rid of the filmmakers. DP famously made the ‘A naked picnic at Anthony Steen’s pad‘ video. We’ve emailed them for a comment.
The video is worth watching.

Update: Beau Bo D’Or has an appropriate response.
Update 2: The video is now below (via OutofRange)

The copyright claim sounds very dubious indeed.
On what grounds?
I suggest Don’t Panic get advice – and publish a transcript, or the most interesting quotes.
CF are certainly in some danger of making this MUCH more interesting … they should take some good pr advice …. there must be some people in the party who know something about that!?
After watching that video, if I was them I’d panic too!
This is just going to guarantee the video gets more publicity.
Tory dolts.
I saw the video, didn’t strike me as particularly incriminating. Young Tories have right-wing views – what a shock!
“all women should be aspire to be mothers”
That’s not just right-wing, that’s Stone Age.
I’ve always wondered how Young Conservatives manage to get laid, never mind procreate. I’m still wondering.
“That’s not just right-wing, that’s Stone Age.”
Well to be fair if most women didn’t aspire to be mothers we’d soon die out! If she’d said “housewifes” I’d see your point.
Don’t Panic were also planning to film a video on the Liberal Youth movement, but were stopped in their tracks when they realised that there isn’t one.
There is hope for the future!
I’ve always wondered how Young Conservatives manage to get laid, never mind procreate. I’m still wondering.
That’s not a difficult question at all – bar the Monarchy there is no more compelling advert for the dangers of inbreeding than bunch of young Tories.
Pretty much as i expected. Some normals, some tossers, quite a lot of received prejudice, same as in any youth politics movement.
Actually, the bit that struck me, apart from the preternaturally ghastly researcher and the hilarious climate change girl (“I LOVE science!”) was the guy at the end talking about going clubbing and getting really drunk. Well, good for him. But does that make him part of the binge-drinking youth culture his party leadership are always decrying as the end of civilisation? Or is ABC1 binge-drinking different from CDE binge-drinking? Would anyone from Conservative Future care to comment?
It’s first chair was Donal Blaney.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Future
I think that explains everything, really.
Like I said, young Tories exist purely to remind us all why inbreeding in a bad thing.
I believe it was Mosley who said “vote Labour, sleep Tory”.
Blaney of course fantasises about being the next Karl Rove. So beware the sanitised compassionate conservative rhetoric disguising a very coporatised, evangelical right-wing agenda.
“all women should be aspire to be mothers”
That’s not just right-wing, that’s Stone Age.
Yeah – right-wing.
Did anyone download the video for personal use – and of course posterity, just in case?
Wow, almost right wing enough to make me want to vote for them! It sounds like a perfectly reasonable youth movement to me. Low taxes, plenty of drinks! If we could push them in the logical direction, they would be legalising the less dangerous recreational drugs too. I think it was a strategic blunder to complain about the video. Accepting this presentation of them would make them look more magnaminous and open. A cheeky YouTube response video would have been much more in keeping with new technology than an attempt to shut it down.
Wasn’t Blaney the sleazy married Tory who stalked a 20 year old female Labour candidate on the net?
Nick, yeah but what about the social engineering favoured by the 19 year old spiv? How do you get rid of that bossiness?
16- Karl Rove’s “strategy” isn’t working out so well now, is it?
“Nick, yeah but what about the social engineering favoured by the 19 year old spiv? How do you get rid of that bossiness?”
The pro-family boy? Oh I guess persuade him the best way to help families is to leave them alone and make the law neutral between different forms of familial organisation. Then carefully re-define whatever results (gay couples, polyamorous households, extended communities) as “family”. It is a fairly malleable concept.
I’m afraid to say that to me, that looked a lot like any old student outing. Only in reverse. First the students get drunk, and only then do they put on the pretence that they know anything about how society works. Obviously these guys are so hubristic as to think they can work out the underpinnings of society before 32 gins.
16- Karl Rove’s “strategy” isn’t working out so well now, is it?
It worked perfectly well for Bush for 8 years. That’s a lot of time to fill the coffers. ;o)
Anyhoo, the British people will have to learn their own lessons – the Americans have learned their own, for now at least.
The pro-family boy? Oh I guess persuade him the best way to help families is to leave them alone
This almost sounds naive Nick. Tories start off was jumped-up idiots like that (Blaney being the best example, and yes he’s the one who was obsessed by the 20yr old Labour PPC) and they progressively become more socially authoritarian.
I thought you would have realised that once Cameron replaced Dominic Grieve was home secretary with Chris Grayling. It’ll be almost amusing to watch how disappointed you’ll be once these lot get into power.
nick
You’re gonna get one hell of a shock…
naff all in the news tonight. What about the BBC expenses though? Its past 21.30 so LC won’t post any more stuff (peak dies at this time I imagine), but who else should display their expenses.
Backfooters called out for the Telegraph to display theirs, and I think that’d be great, but obviously not as exciting. It’ll be full of train journey’s that didn’t happen, or presents that exceed decadent.
We obviously reached our peak too early with MP’s, and bankers have already written shit books about how their champagne egotism brought down the system (incidentally, I only, out of obvious leftie principle, read reviews of these books. I, in no way, contributed, whatsoe’er, to their new found careers. And, as someone who works in a school, by no means favour a bankers’ 6 month [as opposed to 12 month] teacher training as a measure to curb former stock trader negligence, or however we might term jet-setting in these current climbs).
Young Conservatives. Who here remembers the young chap on HIGNFY that time, he was on Paul’s team. He was the leader of the Conservative yoof I think. Like that 15 yr old on the video, I seem to remember hearing him speak about how inspirational IDS was. How on earth do the younglins of society – even the Tory younglins of society – find IDS anything other than crap.
Boris Johnson may well be the next Che Guevara (in the sense that they have both fought for ideologies that have since existed well past their need, so much so, in fact, that they have had to change so much in order to appeal to decent human beings [Cuban communism, as well as British Toryism) but I dread to think how the next BJ deputy will spur on a London embargo.
Question Time is on now, bye.
Nick – what Sunny and Aaron said. Really good luck with that plan.
Oh great, Tory PPC thinks banking secrecy and low/no tax laws are a model for the British economy.
You know, like in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Which are currently being re-possessed by the UK Government via Statutory Instrument, due to the social, economic and political collapse that has resulted from tax havenry.
Michael Jackson died
Yeah, but you can still get tickets for Michael Jackson at the 02 Arena.
Perhaps it’s a Body-World-Jacko-Crossover-Special?

When I was at school, we went to the Millennium dome as a trip. And I can tell you, I would’ve happily (let my parents allow me to have) gone to that, Mr. Sagar.
Mr. Ministry, Mr. TRUTH; The URL contained a malformed video ID. Tell me your video. Tell me.
Fixed it…
I’ve always wondered how Young Conservatives manage to get laid, never mind procreate. I’m still wondering
Er, because most young Tories have decent jobs, speak properly and live in nice flats? Did you really think pious left-wing views and a weed habit was going to get you laid? What a silly little person you are. Good thing you’ll be voting LabGreenDem at the next election – they need all the support they can get.
“I thought you would have realised that once Cameron replaced Dominic Grieve was home secretary with Chris Grayling. It’ll be almost amusing to watch how disappointed you’ll be once these lot get into power.”
I’ve said I hold little hope out for the current Tory generation. If they manage to regain and retain habeas corpus and hold back ID cards, I would be impressed. I just have a little more hope for the young’uns. Homophobia is so last century, and living responsibly is eminently compatible with lifestyle freedom.
@38
“Er, because most young Tories have decent jobs, speak properly and live in nice flats?”
Wow, so we have unearned wealth and privilege copulating with greed and acquisitiveness? Explains a lot.
And nick – you’re going to be *sorely* disappointed. Tories only pay lip service to libertarianism to get it into bed.
Beau Bo D’Or’s video seems to have been removed for the same reason.
A copy of the claim would have been sent to the uploader, presumably Don’t Panic, and that would include the reasons Conservative Future thought it violated their copyright. Would be interesting to know what they stated.
Oh and the uploader can file a counter-claim which if isn’t responded to within 10 days with a court claim *may* result in the video being put back up.
That video is remarkable for the simple fact it has generated such a lot of interest despite being so completely and utterly unremarkable (and almost bordering on being quite sensible).
This highlights what I find infuriating about the progressive movement. The Right Wing political groupings openly express these views every single day, yet these people are never publicised nor do we take them to task.
We are quite happy to point out Brown’s failings or discuss an alternative Universe with Benn, Milliband, Straw et al as leader. Yet our best weapons are lying in the armoury unused.
The Tories have used the ‘guilt by association’ pretty ruthlessly over the years. Labour spokesman have had every ill judged utterance thrown in his or her face since the seventies. ‘The police got a bloody good hiding’, ‘All white people are racist’ etc. Boris Johnston used terms like ‘A Labour Mayor’ when referring to Livingston etc have all been used to devastating effect, but we cannot muster a single campaign based on the wackier elements of the Tories?
All across the centre/left/progressive blogs I see the debates about what form of PR would be best for the Labour Party the floating voters are reading blogs that are attacking the left/centre/progressive movement with lies.
Lets be honest here. Most ‘No such thing as Man made climate change’ are likely to Conservative at the next election. That is fair enough, but what about the rest? What about those that want action taken? Clearly Cameron thinks he can sway some by showing his (I believe real) concern on the issue, but his grass roots Party do not share his concerns.
Climate change girl represents a significant voice on the Right of politics. Go on any blog, message board, phone in etc and you hear these wacky ideas. So why not confront Cameron and the front bench with these people’s statements at every turn? Why not ask them to explain why such statements are wrong on every ‘Question time’ show? Why not staple ‘climate change girl’ and the rest opinion on to his forehead? (Metaphorically speaking). Why not link him and Goldsmith with a Party that does not believe in AGW? Why spend two hours looking for a policy difference between him and Osbourne on PFI when the glaring holes are so obvious that it is hard to miss them?
Tory boy announced his support for McCain. At the time of the election to the swearing in, McCain was seen as the ‘old style candidate’, so why could we not highlight that the ‘future’ of the Conservative Party is wedded to 70 plus year old men?
