George Osborne to be investigated

by Newswire

Sky News is reporting that shadow chancellor George Osborne is to be investigated by the sleaze watchdog over his expenses. A few days ago we asked why, despite his expense claims, Osborne was still part of the shadow cabinet.

I would much prefer it if people went after George Osborne on account of the poor taste of his politics. Like some sort of inverted Robin Hood, he wants to cut inheritance tax for deceased rich people at the same time as cutting public services for living poor people. The travesty of his housing arrangements pales in comparison to this.

If the Tories have any sense they’ll lock Osborne in a cabinet.

I noticed Osborne has been maxing out his office ‘petty cash’ allowance of £250 a month – which is a lot of teabags. I don’t know how many other MPs do this, but I would be interested in hearing what it is spent on.
