And Clegg carries on as if nothing was happening. It’s easy to see the motivation, there could be embarassing pictures. The casual use of force was sinister and the clear disdain for the protester shows the lines really have been drawn. Clearly the LibDems are now the Nasty Party too.

Strange, you can find time to trawl Youtube for a short clip where a demonstrator rightly gets put in her place but you still haven’t mentioned anything about Ex-Labour MP David Chaytor being jailed for ripping off the public purse?

I would be surprised if you found anyone who posts here regularly think anything other than that David Chaytor got what he deserved.

Labour supporters were some of the most angry and critical of MP expenses revelations when they were exposed.
Somewhat contrary to the many Lib Dem defenders of David Laws when he got his housing claims awry.

The issue here, one you seem keen to not address, is what is or not happening in the film clip.

I see Stephen Tall on Twitter has is that the poor Lib Dem MP is removing a piece of paper pushed in his face.

Rewatching the film, it seems clearly that the reason the poster ends up in his face are his own actions.

It is quite obvious what is going on in the clip, a “student” is trying to make herself famous by shoving her sign in front of Nick Clegg in an effort to get on the news.

The protestor appears to have stayed on her feet throughout.

So what? That is the rough and tumble of a demo or Saturday night in a town pub. Behaviour likely to cause breach of the peace results in breach of the peace.

I have watched the clip twice and i can’t see anything in the clip that would cause any reasonable person to even pass comment?? and a poster refers to ‘brown shirts’?? Childish fantasists.

I’m not sure I’ve seen any news source mention that she’s a Labour student, and that a lot of people obviously made their minds up on what happened regardless of what the video shows.

It looks like a bit of a scrum to me. Similar to that which I’ve seen occur before, party a activist tries to push through the crowd to put poster up behind clegg, party b activists barge a out of the way. If you’re prepared to barge in, be prepared to be barged out.

We were led to believe the LibDems in the coalition government are intent on restoring our traditional values and respect for personal liberties but the treatment of the student protester shows that to be a hollow claim.

The treatment of Walter Wolfgang at the 2005 Labour Party Conference is an apt example of abuse of government power to suppress criticism, even mild heckling. The irony is that the New Labour government’s stop and search powers were struck down.

I agree with criticising the LibDems (and Tories) for not getting a move on in terms of civil liberties.

I’m equally shocked by Clegg’s unphased stride, he slightly looks behind but carries on walking and talking like nothing is wrong. Shame on Clegg!

Sadly, I doubt Mr Clegg and the cabal surrounding him have any shame left. They are still far too desperate to promote the narrative that “there is no alternative” to allow their photo opportunity to be spoiled by something like a protester daring to confront them with their unpopularity and deceit.

If this had been Labour or the Tories acting the same to an LD protester they would be shouting it from the rooftops. The fact that they are not simply shows how similar they are to all the others, despite all the guff about being different.

Nothing will change unless we fight to change the votng system and how people are elected.

These people don’t know normal if it was thrown in their faces and the ones who are the ‘normal’ ones, were always the mad socially inept but confident kids at school who always had some sort of club going where they were chair.
