Exclusive: ex-Daily Star reporter ‘goes rogue’

Liberal Conspiracy has been given an exclusive preview to the trailer for One Rogue Reporter – a new show to debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

The show is fronted by Rich Peppiatt – the ex Daily Star reporter who is now a thorn on the side of tabloids.

The former red-top hack pursues redemption by turning the tables on the tabloid power players, testing the public’s right to know to its eye-opening extremity.

‘A petulant scoundrel’ (Daily Telegraph).
‘A Judas’ (Nigel Pauley, Daily Star).
‘A self confessed liar’ (David Wooding, Sun on Sunday).
‘I believe everything Peppiatt said was true’ (Sir Tom Stoppard).

I saw him do this show at a festival a couple of weeks ago. Rather unimpressed, I have to say.

Apart from the Jeremy Beadle-type pranks that you see in the YouTube trailer, he really didn’t say much that you wouldn’t have gathered from watching the Leveson Inquiry.

The big revelation was that the Daily Star is run by amoral, money-grubbing sleazoids obsessed with celebrity tat and unconcerned about journalistic accuracy. Well, who’d have thought that, eh?

As for Peppiatt himself, he came across during the show as being every bit the kind of emotionally-immature pillock you’d expect to find working for the Daily Star. Frankly, by the end of it I was left wondering whether he really had some fit of conscience, or just decided it would be more fun to troll the trolls. And with that in mind, all his bluster about having been inspired as a journalist by George Orwell and Woodward and Bernstein sounded suspiciously like what one might say if trying to ingratiate oneself to an audience of Guardian-reading liberals like me.

2. One rogue critic

I witnessed Richards ‘comedy’ show on the opening night in Edinburgh. Unimpressed would be putting it extremely lightly.

A travesty to entertainment would be closer to the mark.

There I was, eagerly anticipating a tongue in cheek, enlightening portrayal from peppiat’s turbulent time at the tabloids. Instead I witnessed a fumbling middle class moran showing pre-recorded clips that can only be described as CHEAP SLEAZY SMUT. Trying to gain cheap sleazy laughs, by applying dirty tricks he obviously learnt from his time at the tabloids, although in the same breath so persistently trying to distance himself from?

Enlightenment more like complete ignorance.

Tongue in cheek more like peppiat’s Tongue shoved right up every arse hole seated in his dismal, flakey audience.

After reading Richards resignation letter I actually started to sympathise with this young articulate hack, I mean, how could you not?

Simple. Watch this show.

By putting this uncredible filth out there, Peppiatt has quite simply just undone all his good work at the leveson enquiry, along with his resignation letter.

Wigs. Glasses. Gimmicks. All we’re missing is a cheesy catchprase ..

Here’s a couple for you ..
