The Fabian Society has announced the date for its annual conference for next year – on January 12th.

Titled ‘ Next State’, the conference will feature Labour leader Ed Miliband making the keynote speech. Last year Ed Balls made the keynote speech.

The line-up of speakers and debates has not yet been announced.

Fabian General-Secretary Andrew Harrop said:

2013 is the year Labour needs to get serious about shaping its programme for government. The Fabian New Year Conference begins that process by asking how the left should govern and what our top priorities for power should be.

I’m delighted that Ed Miliband will be joining us to take part in the debate and set out his agenda for the year ahead. He’ll be joining almost one thousand of the left’s leading activists and thinkers for the largest one-day political event in the calendar.

The venue will be the same as last year, the Institute of Education in London.

Liberal Conspiracy and LabourList will be among the media partners to the event.

Will Ed Miliband be launching a pamphlet with a title of: The Fourth Way, to commemorate the decisive burial of that Fabian pamphlet, launched in 1998, with the title of: The Third Way?

Will everyone attending be asked to bring their own waffle-irons with them, or will there be enough Fabian-brand waffle to go around as usual?

“Next State”?

“Next State”?
