He clarified he mean ‘Muslim’ of course, not Muslin.

Update: There’s more info on this brilliant plan in the Yorks Press.

Well over 100 turned out in the end for a great day of solidarity and community. As you say, the best way to thwart an EDL demonstration (even if it is only 4/5 people strong…)

2. Suburban Tory

The York mosque is a branch of the UK Islamic Mission, a front group for the far right South Asian clerical fascist party Jamaat e Islami.

I am no fan of the EDL and no doubt many members are racist thugs. However, for a bunch of poorly educated football hooligans they have correctly identified that Islamism is an enemy of liberalism.

Highly educated leftists see Islamists as friends and allies.

More here.

3. Baton Rouge

This is not the best way to thwart and EDL demo. Far from it. This makes the EDL look respectable and reasonable. Next they’ll be saying `well you drank tea with us so of course you can march through our community’. Once their marching rights are estblished and they are of sufficient weight they will launch a violent and murderous assault. Let’s not walk like sheep into a fascist nightmare.
