Tory businessmen try swift-boating Clegg

A new group called ‘Policy Diffusion’ is pouring money into ads targeting the Libdems and Nick Clegg especially.
It’s website claims:
Policy Diffusion is focused on ensuring that the public better understands the policies that are being put forward at this general election, particularly Liberal Democrat policies. Policy Diffusion believes there is a real danger that people will vote for the LibDems without knowing fully what they stand for. Policy Diffusion is trying to correct that, by diffusing email messages through various networks, as well as poster lorries and other means.
Policy Diffusion has been set up by businessmen Richard Thoburn, Mark Rayner, Kevin Harrington and Ken Tonkin. All are very concerned about the effect of a hung parliament on the economy and believe that a Liberal Democrat government or a coalition government with a strong Liberal Democrat influence would be a disaster for the economy and for the country.
Here are some of the ads they are running.
Tory grassroots over at ConHome have been voicing their approval of the campaign.

It’s like a graphic representation of Tory panic. If they weren’t so infantile they’d be amusing. The fact they are prepared to pour their money into puerile nonsense a middle school project would have rejected as lame just shows they have more money than sense.
Of course the ConHomers will love it… nothing like schoolboy humour to take their minds of the kicking they are going to get on Thursday.
I’d just settled on Labour after weeks of indecision… Now I might have to vote LibDem just to piss these guys off.

Obviously these men are not being taxed enough if they can waste their money like this.
But I love the fact that they’re worried about people not knowing what the Lib Dems stand for. The one party who are really concealing their policies are the Conservatives. because they are going to push a far right agenda but are pretending to be a new, more moderate tory party.
It’s funny how Cameron pushes a moderate image yet all the rich right wing thugs are desperate for them to win. Seems to be a disconnect there.
Have blogged acerbicly about these halfwits – never any shortage of moolah for the whiners of the Right, is there?
One would have thought the best thing to do would be to ignore it.
This must, surely, be a crypto-project of the LibDems.

Indeed! It’s not as if our manifesto is a secret, and much of this was discussed on the TV debates. It does show incomprehension of what drives voters: Tories evidently think that if they want to vote Lib Dem, it must simply be because they don’t know what’s good for them, what?

A vote for the Lib Dems is a vote for fairer taxes, schools that don’t leave poor children behind and a political system that gives much more power to voters.
And another thing: They put “increase immigration” as a “policy”. In his interview with Gordon Brown Jeremy Paxman tried to say that Labour should have asked the permission of the electorate for increasing immigration in 1997(!).
Why do supposedly intelligent people who would never dream of demanding that political parties make promises about micromanaging trade volumes or the current account think that it’s natural to demand that they micromanage immigration? If the Tories are “free market”, why do they want to impose a cap on non-European economic immigration? Surely it runs completely counter to basic Conservative ideas about the market economy?
Or is it just that the Tories are collectivists first and free marketeers second? I think that is the point. Why libertarians think the Conservatives are worth voting for is beyond me.

They’re not ‘free market’ very few people are – the vast majority of ‘anti immigration’ types believe the market should operate exclusively in favour of the WASP (even the bnp makes it shit in Honduras and Slovakia) hence there’s never any talk (by tories, at least) of regulating the outbound flow of labour or capital.
Try telling these tory businessmen that the import of goods and capital (along with the export of capital for say, summer houses in Provence) is going to be regulated in exactly the same way as labour and they’ll change their tune pretty quick fucking sharp.

Right on man! Tories also love welfare, but only for WASPS.
The thing is though… they’re so bad I can’t help but feel it’s going to rebound. I’d be tempted to reproduce them at party expense.
