When will Boris admit to travel fare rises?

At the BBC London debate last night, Tory candidate Boris Johnson once again refused to come clean about his plans to raise fares above inflation every year if he is re-elected.

Ken Livingstone challenged Boris to admit that it was his plan is to raise fares.

But Boris Johnson refused to answer, sticking to his pre-prepared line that he planned to “keep fares down in the long-term”.

This is rubbish. Boris has signed off a budget that commits to:

the need for fares to make a somewhat greater contribution to the cost of providing services, with an assumption that fares will rise annually by the level of the Retail Price Index (RPI) plus two per cent, while protecting concessions.

At one point Boris even claimed he was going to look into reducing fares!

This is despite signing off on that budget, and accusing Ken of fiddling figures to reduce fares.

And once again the media won’t even bother fact-checking his dishonesty.

The polls are narrowing. Boris’s revolting quasi-fascist propaganda team have thrown everything they can out there muck-wise, ably assisted by the traitors in the labour party right, but still the polls are narrowing. Are people starting to realise that Boris is actually a conservative, and this is not a good thing, and whatever reservations they have about Ken, letting a tory in at this time of all times, when they are showing their full colours, as incompetent as they are venal, is not a good idea.

This is going to be close.
