Wow, I was going to accuse you Sunny of using a DM type of headline, but after looking at Marie Stopes’ website they are using a similar headline. I’ll be interested to see the actual ad as the stated aims of the org are :

Marie Stopes International is a not-for-profit sexual and reproductive health organisation that uses modern business methods to achieve the social goal of preventing unintended pregnancies and unwanted births in around countries worldwide.

Abortion services are a necessary and welcome part of their services but I wonder about an ad which emphasises this before advice on options regarding an un-planned pregnancy.

Aren’t there plenty of orgs who do offer advice on unplanned pregnancies anyway?

I don’t know. None round my way that I’m aware of.

I do know, now, that Marie Stopes is a very expensive way to get advice and treatment: http://www.mariestopes.org.uk/Fees/Womens_services/Abortion.aspx

I’m thinking that Marie Stopes, as a private health care company, has played a blinder in releasing a press release which gives mixed messages about what the advert contains, but the advert is embargoed until Monday so nobody can speak with any absolute accuracy. They also emailed feminist bloggers the day before the press release to try to get more publicity. In effect they raised voices from all over the place which raised much free publicity for a few centres which are mostly located in and around London, but then the telephone consultation, at £80, is available to all wherever they live, if they can afford it.

Perhaps interesting to note that Brook offer ‘free and confidential sexual health advice and contraception to young people under 25.’ and have centres all over the UK (but not in Wales).

Informative website too: http://www.brook.org.uk/index.php
