Lord Lawson today told BBC Radio 4 he thought George Osborne’s plan to have a public consultation on spending cuts was a “spending ploy”.
The public consultation, I think, is essentially a PR ploy, it may be a very good PR ploy.
He added that the consultation “musn’t in any way slow down the process of cutting expenditure.”
It is the government’s job to decide what must be done.
Nothing should be ring fenced, everything should be judged on its merit.
